Sheila Burnett Specialises In Theatre Photography

Sheila studied at Birmingham School of Art travelling to London in the 70’s to work as an Illustrator in Fleet St. She became interested in alternative theatre which had a strong ‘Art school’ influence eventually leading to her becoming a performer with the infamous Pip Simmons Theatre Group. The theatre experience led seamlessly to another longer-lasting profession as a photographer specialising in production photography for theatre, actors’ headshots, site-specific installations, and all projects related to the arts. She has enjoyed more than twenty-five years of experience with an impressive analogue archive of mono theatre production shots. This archive begins in the 80’s onwards until turning digital in 2003 although the affection for analogue b/w images remains.
Sheila has exhibited with Dreamwork 3 TWO HOTELS at the old Midland Grand Hotel St Pancras, an exhibition of photographs and installations documenting two site-specific performances which took place at the Midland Hotel Morecambe bay and the Old Midland Grand Hotel St Pancras 2000.
